Re: Kill Team Argentum

Astartes spent much of their time traveling through the chaos of the Warp, hopping from one xenos infested sector to another overrun by Traitor Legions. Slyde's chapter had seen some ugly fighting against those tainted by the Immaterium, and so he recognized the perils that lay close at hand whenever Men entered that realm: madness, corruption, and if they were lucky, death.

But the Light of the Emperor, enthroned on Terra, would guide them through. The Raptor saw the Warp as he would see any enemy: dangerous, deadly, but ultimately it too would bow before Man. As was his ritual when traveling with his chapter, Yancey sat on the floor of his room, bare metal cold under him. He awaited the transition while reciting prayers to the Emperor and hining the edge of his combat knife.

As always, there was the sickness and horror, and as every time before, the Emperor was merciful and the ship remained intact. Slyde thanked the Emperor for his benevolence and rose from the deck.

Re: Kill Team Argentum

The battle brothers strained to get past the first disturbing parts of the warp, but it was something they had experienced time and time again.

"Brothers report to the bridge in battle gear."  Came the vox in each of the brother's meditation room.

The brothers donned their power armor, the process solemn, the smell of the candles permeating the air and the servitors chanting the rites of arming.

The brothers marched to the bridge and waited for Watch Captain de Dominova.  The captain of the 'Argent Crusader' standing prime watch, staring out the windows.

"Gentlemen,"  Captain DeSaul addresses the bridge command crew.  "Gather in the chapel in one hour."  Turning to the Battle Brothers, he continues, "We shall..."

But he never gets to complete his sentence.  The captain's eyes widen in stark, unfettered terror as he stares at something immediately behind you, his face draining of all color.

"INCURSION!"  Captain DeSaul splutters, his breath billowing in clouds as the temperature nears zero.  "Emperor save us."

The temperature stars to plunge as sheets of unnatural ice begins to cross every surface.  The command crew of the bridge see's this, some are able to steel themselves, but many fail and the smell of urine starts to fill the air, the nostrils of the Space Marines pick up the smell before anyone else even can.

Six members of the command crew stood there their fear overcoming them and they were unable to move, to a man.

OOC: If you are so inclined feel free to try and help the command crew, otherwise you can decide on your own actions, but do not leave the bridge.

The faithful armor insulated Yancey from the spreading chill, even as his senses alerted him to the fear rippling through the crew. The Adeptus Astartes were not just avengers, but also protectors, and so he left his massive frame into motion. "Clear the bridge!" he shouted through his helmet vox, looking around to see if there was a visible epicenter of the breach. "Move, now! Alert the rest of the ship!" He drew his bolter as he shouted, eyes constantly looking for a target to materialize.

Action:
Scan for Warp breach
Herd crew out the nearest exit away from the breach

Sepharam spun as soon as he saw the look of horror on the captains face.  There weren't many things that could go so wrong during a jump that were bad enough to cause that kind of fear. The staff in his hand began to flow with warp energy as he drew some of the stuff to himself to help defend the ship against whatever was coming.

OOC: I'm pretty sure He's trained in Psyscience so he should be able to make a roll to find it if the breach isn't readily obvious. it's Perception based so under 51 and he's trained so it's 51+whatever difficulty you set.

Re: Kill Team Argentum

The cold on the bridge continued to envelope the various consoles across the bridge. Puffs of air could be seen coming from every member of the bridge crew, those that were more scared breathed much quicker.

A hideous and obviously unnatural shriek starts to permeate the air.

Sepharam was able to make contact with the warp, his keen senses easily able to reach out from the bridge and feel that the entire vessel was experiencing the same as the bridge.

The entire crew was starting to lose their grip on their wits, scared at what they felt and what was happening....

The deck below the armoured feet of the Space Marines start to tremble violently, the supernatural muscles of the warriors having to contract in order to keep themselves from toppling over!

As the wailing continues one of the senior members of the bridge crew finally loses his battle with himself and runs into the nearest bulkhead, grasping the ice, which quickly starts to cover his hands in it's icy embrace, he starts to pound his face into the metal bulkhead, blood spraying with every gruesome slam.

Soon half seen figures begin to coalesce before the Kill Team, grasping limbs reach out from beyond the ether as a petrified voice finally breaks and shouts "GELLAR FIELD FAILURE!"

A gargoyle like creature uses the break and suddenly the speaker's head explodes in a rain of blood as his mouth is turned into a portal from whence the foul beast is able to escape!

Sepharam grinned under his helmet, the creature had chosen to spawn itself in a most auspicious location. He swung his force staff at the creature as he stepped to it, attempting to crush it before it even had a chance to completly solidify.

OOC: Melee attack; WS 52, DMG 1d10+4 I.

The failure of the Geller Field was an auspicious event, thought Slyde as he faced the Chaos spawned beast. Seeing that the Librarian had engaged the creature in melee, he holstered his boltgun and drew forth his power sword, then moved to flank it.

Actions:
Holster boltgun
Draw Powersword
Flank gargoyle thing

The gargoyle wasn't even able to form it's first thought on the inside on the Argent Crusader, it was Sepharam's weapon that unleashed the fury of the marine wielding it, smashing into the Fury wit bone crushing power, followed a moment later by the power sword that Slyde had unsheated with impressive quickness. The blade hummed to live and sliced the creature, and what was left of the bridge officer in two.

Another fury appeared, coalescing from the ether that surrounded them while in warp and with the Gellar field down, was everywhere. That fury was brought asunder by the thunderous roar of a pair of bolter rounds slamming into the vile creature and exploding.

OOC: Actions?

Slyde looked around the bridge, attempting to locate a Mechanicus or other servant of the Machines. "Can the Geller Field be revived? We must staunch the tide of the Chaospawn if we're to cleanse the ship."

"Perhaps, but we cannot vox the engineers!"  One of the bridge crew shouted as he drew his pistol and started shooting at the beginning of another incursion.

The Space Marine grunted. He looked to his Battle-Brothers and their leader, "We need control of the bridge and engineering. All else will fall if we don't stop the incursions. Shall we cut a path to those blessed by the Machines?" He held his power sword ready, preparing to swing at the nearest new manifestation of hellish Chaos.

"Good idea Marine, you do that, get the bridge crew and any others you can find on the way to the chapel. Slyde and I will take back Engineering and get the Geller field back up."

He didn't wait for an answer, instead turning to smash the latest threat before moving to the exit of the compartment.

For a moment the Raptor Marine was almost dumbstruck by the other Astartes idea. Hole up and allow the daemons to reign free over the ship? That way would only find them and the crew dead at its end. The psyker clearly had a greater clarity of mind despite the breach of the Warp, and Slyde gladly followed him. "May the Emperor preserve us! We shall not retreat in the face of the enemies of Man!"

The group of marines knew better than than to split up, especially when faced with the dastardly enemies of the warp. "We will face the enemies of the Imperium together, we cannot know what foul beasts have ripped through the Gellar fields and into the halls of our vessel. Steel yourselves brothers of the Watch, for we have killing to do this day, in the name OF THE EMPEROR!"

The group of marines, their power armour coming alive started off for engineering, but not before one last look over the bridge as it wash awash in fighting, mere humans of the bridge crew, and two gun servitors were fighting the ever increasing tide of daemons as they ripped through the fabric of reality and into nightmares.

Stepping from the bridge they entered the hallway that would require them to take a lift down twenty levels to get to engineering. As soon as the doors opened, the roar of bolters permeated the air as the two lead Argentum squad members unleashed their rightous fury down the hallway, four daemons fell to their withering fire!

"Advance brothers, Slyde and Sepharam, secure the lift and appease it's machine spirit!"

OOC: The lift is 20 meters down the hall, the squad will need to advance down the hall, fighting a small horde of daemons. Any team tactics you want to use are up to you guys.

Sepharam holds up his staff and extends his hand out toward the hall.  Fire blazes forth in the shape of an angelic avatar of death, billowing forth and incinterating everything in the hall between himself and the lift.

Force power test, fettered (2): 80

Yancey made sure to stay a step behind the Librarian when he saw the pysker preparing to unleash some Immaterium-fueled horror upon the Chaospawn. He stayed back and to left of Sepharam, firing his boltgun as he went.

The Immaterium was called upon, with it being so close to the tears in the gellar field it came all too easy to the Librarian unleashed a fury that he would forever remember.

The touch of the Immaterium ran up and down his spine and from the end of his staff and engulfed the entire hallway, everything in its path ignited in a rightous flame that killed all life in it's path!

The hallway was still burning the smell was something unlike that which most had smelled before. The psychic energy of Sepharam's magik had been amplified 10 fold and the armoured walls had not just received scorch marks from the intense head, but they had actually began melting, rivulets of melted metal ran down the walls as they drew to the door to the elevator.

Yancey reached out with his armoured fists and had to give the doors three solid strikes before they would crack enough that he could fit his massive fingers in to pry the doors apart, the ornate Aquila was hardly recognizable.

"Such immense power..." The duo heard over the vox, one of the other members of the kill-team said, in reverence or disgust it was not clear.

Over the vox came yet another voice, this one was from Watch Captain de Dominova. "Whilst we draw breath, we stand. While we stand, we fight! Whilst we fight, we prevail!

"Rally to the Reclusium brothers, the holy relics there will protect us and we will sally forth from there, to bring rightous fury to these daemons."

The doors to the lift were pried open and were it not for the helmets on the battle brothers the stench of dead would have caused them to vomit.

Squatted down on his haunches, the warp clearly having taken any mind that he once had, was a crew member digging into the intestines and bowels of two dead crew members.

With a stomp of his boot Yancey crushed the disgusting former crew members skull and upper torso beneath his boot. The lift was a service lift, not one designed to move an full kill team about.

"Brother's, we will hold here, you secure the other end of the lift on the floor to the Reclusium and send the lift back." One of the remaining battle brothers said as they formed up and took defensive postures to cover the entirety of the hall. A bolter sounded off and two small daemons were destroyed by the deadeye shot of yet another brother.

"You had best hurry."

OOC: Anything before we move along? Mike you still playing?

"Yes sergeant."

Sepharam grabbed his staff and stepped into the lift, the gore that was left of the crew squishing under his boots. He waited patiently for Yancy to join him as he leaned against the wall of the small box thinking about the pleasure that he got from feeling the bones cracking and entrails squishing beneath his boots, the smell of the blood made his mouth water just a little.
